Assistance in applying for Polish citizenship

How can I get Polish citizenship?

Do you dream of living in a progressive European country and receiving a European pension when you reach old age? There is only one way to fulfill this dream - to obtain citizenship of any of the EU countries.

Having studied the experience of our clients and the legislative base of different EU countries, we have come to the conclusion that it is much easier to obtain Polish citizenship than citizenship of other European countries.

In Poland there are many working foreigners who faithfully fill the Polish budget with tax payments. There are also many foreigners who develop their business in Poland, pay all taxes and give jobs not only to other foreigners but also to Poles. Such people are a valuable part of the Polish population and that is why the government has made Polish legislation on obtaining citizenship relatively simple and the conditions for obtaining a Polish passport quite easy to fulfill.

With Polish roots, it is not difficult to obtain citizenship, while without roots, a long stay in the country combined with a decent work record will be required.

How to get Polish citizenship? Now we will tell you about everything in order.

Polish citizenship can be obtained in two ways: through the Uzęd Wojewóduski or through the Chamber of the Polish President.

In the first case, the applicant needs to submit the required documents to the Uzęd Wojewóduski. Not every foreigner can do this, but only those who meet certain conditions. These conditions include having Polish roots or, for example, having been officially staying in Poland for more than ten years. Below we will elaborate on which foreigners are entitled to apply for citizenship through Użęd Wojewóduski.

Any foreigner at any point in his or her stay in Poland can apply for Polish citizenship through the Chamber of the President. The processing time for such applications can take years, and the percentage of positive decisions is critically low. To obtain a Polish passport in this way, you must have special merits to the state. For example, a foreigner who saved two children from a fire recently obtained citizenship through the president.

Which foreigners can apply for Polish citizenship?

Now let us learn more about who foreigners can apply for a Polish passport.

Foreigners with proven Polish roots can be first in line for citizenship. They have the right to apply for a permanent residence permit (stalowyt), including documentary proof of their Polish origin, and after one year - for citizenship.

If a foreigner does not have Polish origin, he/she can obtain Polish citizenship in several ways. The first of them is official stay and work on the territory of Poland for ten years. In this case, you must first apply for an EU residence permit or a long-term resident's card, and after three years you can apply for a Polish passport.

The second way to acquire Polish citizenship without Polish roots is to marry a Polish citizen. But in this case it is important to pass a number of preliminary steps of legalization. To obtain a permanent residence permit on the basis of marriage, you must first obtain a temporary residence permit. And you can apply for citizenship after two years of stay on a permanent residence permit. At the same time, it is necessary to be married for at least three years at the time of citizenship.

The third way to obtain a Polish passport without Polish roots is permanent residence in Poland for at least two years on the basis of a settlement permit for refugees. Important point: Ukrainians who are currently staying in Poland on the basis of a PESEL UKR number do not have refugee status, but temporary protection. Therefore, they will be able to claim citizenship only by marriage to a Polish citizen, or by the ten-year stay and employment we mentioned above (if they do not have Polish roots).

Also children, one of whose parents is a Polish citizen and children adopted by a Polish citizen can also claim citizenship.

When applying for Polish citizenship through Uzęd Wojewódzki, a foreigner must necessarily prove the existence of health insurance, a stable and reliable source of income, a permanent place of residence in Poland, as well as knowledge of the Polish language at a level not lower than B1.
