[Semi-annual work permit]

Assistance with the issuance of a consecration (declaration of intent to employ a foreigner). This work permit was previously called “Semi-Annual” but has now been extended to 24 months

Semi-annual invitation to work in Poland.

Semi-annual work invitation or osvyadczenie is a separate type of work permit created specifically for foreigners from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia and Moldova. Obtaining this invitation has a simplified procedure for citizens of the above-mentioned countries.

It has a validity period of 6 months and is issued by Urząd Pracy.

The invitation to work is issued at the initiative of the employer. If you have found an official job in Poland, the employer is obliged to issue one of the types of work invitations suitable for you. On the basis of this invitation you will be able to open a work visa and enter Poland.

It is important to understand that a foreigner can only be employed by the employer who is indicated in the invitation. And the type of work to be performed must also correspond to the type of work specified in the document.

If you change jobs, each new employer must issue you a new invitation. The old one is canceled. Between the issuance of two invitations, a visa corridor of 6 months must be maintained (i.e. a semi-annual invitation can be issued no more than once a year).

In order not to wait for the corridor, it is possible to issue either a seasonal or annual “vojvudu” invitation at the end of the validity period of the consecration, and on the basis of one of these documents to open a work visa.

How do I get a six-month work invitation?

Your employer can make an invitation for you. But, most likely, you will have to ask him/her to do so.

If the employer already has experience in employing foreigners, he will issue an invitation for the employee himself without unnecessary requests.

But often in practice we come across employers who have never hired foreigners before or have very little experience in this. And many of them do not even know that before signing an employment contract it is necessary to issue some kind of invitation. Therefore, in many cases the foreigner himself must ask the employer to initiate the process of issuing a work invitation.

You provide the employer with the documents he/she requests for the invitation. After a short waiting period, you will receive your invitation by post and enter Poland with it (if you are still in your home country) or you will receive it in your hand and start work on the agreed date (if you are already in Poland).

You can also apply for an invitation with the help of an intermediary company in Poland.

If you decide to use the services of an intermediary, make sure to check whether this company has reviews, photos with clients, official office address.

It is also important that the intermediary firm concludes a contract for the performance of their services, and give receipts for your payments. You can also look at the social media pages of the intermediary, how active they are. On social networks you can also understand a lot about the company.

If you have any suspicions - immediately ask clarifying questions and find out as much information as possible about the conditions of registration of the documents you need. If the representative of the company avoids answering questions, we advise you to refuse the services of such an intermediary and not to take any risks.

As a rule, these are:

  • a completed application form;
  • a document proving the identity of the employer;
  • documents confirming the applicant's identity and work qualifications;
  • a document confirming that the employer has the financial means to pay for the employee's labor;
  • receipts for payment of state fees.

It is acceptable for the employer to ask for additional documents at the employer's discretion or vice versa: none of the above will be required for processing.

The duration of the process of issuance of semi-annual and seasonal work invitations by law is from 7 to 30 days, in practice - about 20 days.
